On March 20, 2024, the FOMC reiterated its commitment to a target range for the federal funds rate at 5.25 to 5.50%. In doing so, the FOMC modified its statement slightly from its January 31, 2024 observing that "[j]ob gains have remained strong...", which tends to suggest the FOMC does not anticipate reducing the target range in the next few months. A marked version of the latest statement showing these changes is in the accompanying pdf. The next FOMC meeting is May 1 to May 2, 2024.
